Patient-Centric Approach
Patient-centric research in Germany is increasingly undertaken within the framework of clinical trial research.
Patient -Centric Approach - Quality of Life and Economics
Through the patient-centric approach, the evaluation and cost-effectiveness of therapies can be ascertained for real-world conditions. This investigational approach represents the sensible extension and incorporation of health-economic parameters into clinical trials.
Ultimately, it is desirable that patient-centric cost-benefit analyses be incorporated into clinical research and that the results of these analyses contribute to the evidence gained from the research as a whole. Such analyses bridge the gap between the controlled clinical study and the conditions of daily life.
The contribution of Heike Schön (CSG Germany) and Peter K. Schädlich (IGES Institut) was published in the Deutsche Zeitschrift für klinische Forschung and is downloadable via the IGES homepage as a PDF file.
